Bethlehem is Proud to Announce the Second Annual Lutefisk Dinner

November 14, 2026

2 seating times: 4:00 & 6:00 pm

Tickets on sale NOW!

To meet the needs of our Scandinavian heritage and as we anticipate the longer days of winter, Bethlehem Lutheran Church announces the Second Annual Lutefisk Dinner.  The dinner will be held in the church Fellowship Hall on Saturday November 14, 2026. There are two seating times, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Each seating will accommodate 100 persons.  Bethlehem is located at 417 First Avenue West, Grand Marais, MN, across from the YMCA.

We are excited to provide a Scandinavian-style meal to all who come, complete with Lutefisk and other Scandinavian food options. This dinner is open to anyone interested in trying Lutefisk and eating a traditional Scandinavian meal. Our chef Rolf Anderson, is a Cook County native (son of Wayne & Philis Anderson), a lifetime eater of Lutefisk, and has prepared Lutefisk for thousands of people over the years.  The Lutefisk will be served with either melted butter or Philis Anderson’s secret Scandinavian white sauce recipe—a sauce so delicious that it could be drunk from a cup! The menu will also include Swedish Meatballs and Gravy, Parsley Buttered Potatoes, Peas, Rye Bread, Lefse, Beet Pickles, and a Rustic Inn Pies. Coffee, water, and milk will also be served. First time tryers of Lutefisk will be watched closely and adored for trying this traditional Scandinavian dish.  All of the food will be served with a special blessing from Pastor Calvin Konop, which is sure to make it extra delicious.

Last year’s attendees claimed that this is the “best Lutefisk dinner on the North Shore.” We hope that you can join us for an evening of delicious food, warm conversation, and fellowship with your neighbors. Thank you to our donors: Kent and Lyndsay Anderson for 150 pounds of potatoes; The Rustic Inn (Castle Danger, MN)  for the donation of the pies; and to Thrivent Financial Services for Action Card to help fund some of the costs.

Tickets will be available for purchase on Sunday mornings, or by contacting the church office Monday-Thursday, at 218-387-2227. Reserve your spot by getting your tickets soon.  While tickets are $20/adult and $10/school-aged children, we also offer “Pay What You Can” and also encourage Bethlehem folks to buy an extra ticket to “Pay It Forward.”

This meal is a fund-raising event for the Children, Youth & Family Ministries at Bethlehem.

Invite your friends and spread the word for a fun Scandinavian evening on the North Shore.
