Triennial National E.L.C.A. Youth Gathering
We need to lay the foundation for a successful National E.L.C.A. Youth Gathering in New Orleans, LA with a service project in Biloxi, MS, July 13-23, 2012. We need adults who will commit to take the journey with the youth, attend an informational meeting May 15 in Duluth, and participate in 7 on-line trainings.
Confirmation
Confirmation/Middle School Ministry
Our confirmation program is for youth 6th through 9th grades. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. for a light supper and then get into our classes for the 6-8 grades. Sixth through eighth graders study the Bible in the weekly classes and focus on the Small Catechism of Martin Luther on two retreats each year. Confirmation Camp at Vermilion is strongly recommended. Ninth graders do not have weekly classes but spend time in the fall of their ninth grade year preparing a faith statement in preparation for Confirmation Day on Reformation Sunday.
Senior High News
Pizza Lunch
Pizza lunch is served on the first Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. through the school year. Pizza is provided by Sven and Ole’s. We invite all juniors and seniors from Cook County High who have open campus privilege to join us for a time to connect, share schedules, and a brief devotion.
Senior High Bible Study with Pastor Mark
Wednesdays at 5:30 we offer Bible study for senior high. We meet right after the 5:00 pm. supper. Spring of 2011 we offer a DVD presentation of Paul in Rome: Ancient Truth for Today’s Culture.
Peer Ministry
Peer Ministry Camp June 12-15, 2011 at Camp Onamia. This is a great opportunity to get trained in a ministry that helps youth become helping and healing ministers for each other. Space is limited to 50 participants from around the Northeast Minnesota Synod. The cost is $125.00 if registration is postmarked on or before April 15. Let Pastor Mark know as soon as you can.
Sunday School
Sunday Youth Group
All youth sixth through twelfth grades gather each Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for Bible study, pizza and worship preparation as they put together a monthly Sunday evening worship service. This worship service is for anyone, but is definitely for, with, and by the youth. Filled with multi-media and contemporary song this service is for all youth in Cook County.
Wednesday After School
Laurie Spry (370-0183) and other volunteers offer a faith-filled and fun Wednesday afternoon for 3rd through 5th grades. Every Wednesday they gather for Bible study, song, craft, and snacks.
First Communion Classes are offered during the Wednesday after school program in Lent.
